Don Juan, throughout the entire story never really gets into showing Carlos where or what the peyote is, but instead teaches him about himself and how he belongs to nature, and that nature does not belong to him. Through Don Juan’s teaching about death, it helped Carlos learn what he needed to live a life with peace and harmony in his soul.
