Research has shown that ashwagandha may help the body deal with stressors.* As a result, ashwagandha has become one of the most popular herbs used by those who practice meditation.
Ayurveda teaches that there are seven basic bodily constitutions made up from the balance of three energetic influences, or Doshas. The three Doshas are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha; everyone has a predominance of at least two of these Doshas, and some people may be a mix of all three (tri-Doshic). The state of balance between the Doshas is called Prakruti. Aswagandha is thought to have many balancing benefits for the Doshas and to encourage general health and vitality, improve mental stamina, and support healthy energy levels in the body.
Many believe that ashwagandha possess great healing properties and may support wound healing, relieve stress caused by an imbalance in the vata dosha, revitalize the body, and decrease fatigue caused by the accumulation of negative energies in the body. The roots of ashwagandha thus have a long history of use in India for the support of healthy aging. We have come to appreciate ashwagandha’s properties here at the shop, and often use it when preparing for a meditative session, sometimes in combination with celastrus seed.
