The presence of small amounts of the alkaloid ephedrine in the plant may partly explain the reputation of this herb in Ayurveda.
The plant is associated with the ancient Hindu Goddess of beauty and grace, Parvathy. The herb is part of the trinity of attributes associated with women in Indian herbal folklore, Tripura Sundari, meaning thrice beautiful.
Directions: For the dried and powdered root, take 1/2 tsp per day. You can mix the root powder with tea, soups, or salads.
