Aromatherapy Properties: Marjoram oil is a pale yellow to amber mobile liquid with a warm, woody, spicy-camphoraceous odor. It blends well with bergamot, cedarwood, chamomile, cypress, eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary, and tea tree oil. 

Spiritual Uses: With its soothing, comforting qualities, Marjoram has long been associated with protection and prosperity. It is often used in love magick, protection spells, and by those seeking respite from spiritual or psychic difficulty. Enclosed in an amulet and worn around the neck, a sachet of Marjoram is thought to protect the wearer from respiratory ailments.

History: Marjoram has long been cultivated and used in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and was grown and used in Egypt since at least 3000 BCE. Much like its close relative Oregano (Origanum vulgare), Marjoram symbolized happiness to the ancient Greeks and Romans; according to Roman legend, Venus, the goddess of love, gave the plant its scent so that mortals would smell it and recall her beauty. It was believed that if Marjoram grew on a grave it meant that the spirit of the departed had found happiness in the afterlife. In the Middle Ages, bridal couples wore wreaths of Marjoram to symbolize their love. Marjoram is also a tasty seasoning and a popular ingredient in many dishes including, most famously, pizza!
