Zornia latifolia is currently gaining attention in the ethnobotanical community after hiding in the jungles of Peru and Brazil, as well as among the Pima peoples of northern Mexico, where leaves and flower buds have traditionally been used as a sedative, a relaxant, and a sleep-inducer. Seed pods as well as leaves reportedly have these active properties.
Like Bay Bean, Zornia is considered a good and versatile mixing herb. Do not be tempted to dismiss Zornia as a mere substitute herb, instead it should be regarded as a true incense with a rich Shamanic history. We are proud to be one of the few privileged vendors of this natural rarity.
Zornia’s recent attention seems largely due to the fact that it is an ingredient in some of the more popular herbal incense blends. Like Bay Bean (Canavalia maritima/rosea), Zornia is considered a good and versatile mixing herb. Do not be tempted to dismiss Zornia as a mere “substitute” herb, instead it should be regarded as a true entheogen! We are proud to be one of the few privileged vendors of this natural rarity!
